“No, but direct skin contact has the strongest effect. Through out all of history, humans have walked barefoot on the Earth. They have also sat and slept on animal skins and used those conductive skins for footwear. We now wear shoes that blocks the conductive measures, specifically rubber, so removing this barrier allows a better connection with the Earth. You can wear socks and leather soled shoes, just not rubber bottomed shoes or any soles that have rubber or plastic in them. The same goes for floors, wood and vinyl are not conductive and will not facilitate grounding. If a floor is unsealed concrete or stone built directly on the soil, it is likely to be conductive and ground you.”
“An additional note: walking barefoot on the beach or swimming in the ocean or hot springs is great as these waters are full of dissolved salts and minerals which makes them a fantastic conductive medium for grounding. Lakes and rivers contain less salts and minerals but are still good conductors. Swimming pools, baths and showers are only grounded if there is metal that is in contact with the water that in turn touches the soil, the Earth. Plastic pipes are not conductive.”
Earthwicking can be done:
on balconies
on potted soil
with trees in parking lots
with indoor plants
in 5-minute breaks.
You can Earthwick indoors:
touching a houseplant
sitting by an open window
touching natural materials
using visualization + sensory breathing.
Yes. Multiple peer-reviewed studies show measurable changes in blood markers and heart rate variability. Studies also show reconnecting with the Earth seem to slow the effects of aging and help prevent diseases related to aging which are inflammation conditions.”
“Some people feel calmer in minutes. Others in days. Some people with major symptoms could feel a dramatic difference. However, those with good health may not feel a significant difference, but they could sleep through the night or exhibit less stress. Something that may not be immediately related to Earthwicking. Cumulative consistency is the key.”
“Some people that have not been out in nature for an extended time may feel tired as the Earth healing improves blood flow, oxygenation of cells occurs, and the natural electrical state returns to the body. I never have felt it, but it is reported to be a form of detoxification as the body starts to feel new sensations. Don’t over do it, stay hydrated, and work into it slowly if this occurs. Additionally keep tract of you medicines and how they are reacting. Always check with your doctor as you heal, you may not need the same level of medicines. Everyone is different and everyone will have different results.”
“I have never stopped Earthwicking for extended periods, but I have heard that any gains you have made while Earthing or Earthwicking will begin to erode and the symptoms you were able to control will slowly creep back. It is recommended by numerous studies that connecting with the Earth should become a routine part of a healthy lifestyle.”
“Earthing and Grounding pads and other products were created to help with convenience and practicality. We can’t always go barefoot outside or sleep on the ground like our ancestors. These products help to bring Earth’s energy to us, inside. The body is most receptive to healing during your sleep where you are quiet and this is the best time for grounding, therefore the pads and sheets were invented to facilitate this optimal time period. These human grounding products can be found on numerous websites and on Amazon, beware of imposters check the for their ability to be grounded, these verifying products can also be found on Amazon. We suggest staying with the natural, outdoor Earthwicking process.”
