Heather Kinkade is the past executive director of ARCSA International and a lifelong advocate for sustainable water practices. With nearly four decades of experience in landscape architecture, environmental planning, and water resource management, she has dedicated her career to helping communities understand, harvest, and protect their natural resources.
Heather is the founder of Forgotten Rain LLC, established in 2002, and the author of numerous works on rainwater harvesting and sustainability. Her professional path has included roles as a land planner, landscape architect, educator, environmental consultant, and green building auditor. She has taught environmental science, alternate water use, and sustainability at the University of Phoenix and Arizona State University, and has served as a reviewer for national green building programs.
Her academic background includes a Bachelor’s in Landscape Architecture from the University of Arizona and a Master’s in Environmental Planning as well as Doctoral work in geography at Arizona State University, where she also earned a Certificate in Sustainable Technology and Management.
Heather’s contributions to the field have been recognized with multiple honors, including Fellowship in the American Society of Landscape Architects and ARCSA’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Her passion for water began early in her career, inspired by studying traditional Japanese dry gardens and seeking ways to bring similar ecological wisdom to the American Southwest.
Being mindful of nature, it was a natural transition for her to include and practice forest bathing and earthing in her journey. She now brings this to you as an alternative or rather an additional method of healing. Using the information here to support current prescriptions and medicines, she hopes that you will find the results you hope for.
She lives in Wyoming, where she continues to create educational programs and pursue her art.
